Sierra Health Resources Programs

                    Sierra Health Resources provides the following comprehensive support   
                        services for persons with HIV and AIDS and their families. 
                                    All services are free and confidential.

HIV & AIDS Support Services
 
AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)- Enrollment in this state program provides needed medications for clients not covered by insurance or other government programs.
 Care HIPP-  Pays medical insurance premiums for people with HIV who might otherwise lose their insurance coverage.
 Case Management -  Social worker and nurse case managers work together with the client to develop a care plan based on his/her specific needs.  Case Managers provide benefits counseling and advocacy to assist clients in obtaining benefits and coordinate with other care providers to assure quality and continuity of care.
 Support Groups  -  Sierra Health Resources offers support groups for people living with HIV and separate groups for Families and Friends. Additionally, a Hepatitis support group meets twice monthly.
 Emergency Financial Assistance -  is available for food, housing, medical needs, transportation, and essential utilities for HIV/AIDS clients.
Food Pantry -  Sierra Health Resources food pantry provides food, household goods and nutritional supplements to clients.
 Transportation -  Provided to clients for medical appointments by staff and volunteers or through use of transit tokens. Gas vouchers are available for clients that are able to transport themselves to medical appointments.

Prevention Education Services
 Professional Education-  Sierra Health Resources education staff will customize HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis presentations for in-service training sessions to meet the needs of health and human service providers.
 Lending Library/Materials-Books, videos, audio tapes and periodicals may be checked out of our library.  Topics include coping skills, nutrition, care giving, spirituality, prevention and a variety of other subjects. Free brochures, pamphlets and fact sheets are available too.
 Public Presentations  -  Trained speakers can provide an overview of AIDS, accurate and up to date information on HIV and Hepatitis transmission, prevention, treatment and care of persons living with AIDS.

 
Peer Education
Youth-  Sierra Health Resources provides speakers’ training to teens on HIV/AIDS,
Hepatitis and STD’s so that they are qualified to make classroom presentations to other middle and high school students.
Seniors-  Sierra Health Resources began the Senior HIV/AIDS Information Program (SHIP) in January of 2003.  The target group for outreach is adults 50 and over.  Interested senior volunteers are  trained specific to  HIV/AIDS & Hepatitis in order to teach their peers at various gatherings of Seniors in the central foothills.

Hepatitis Support Services
Sierra Health Resources  hosts Hepatitis Support Group meetings on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at it’s Angels Camp office located at 1168 Booster Way, from 6:30-7:30.  These meetings are open to persons infected with Hepatitis and family members and/or friends affected by Hepatitis.

Outreach Services and Events
To provide ongoing education and outreach, Sierra Health Resources participates in local Health Fairs and other community events. Check the events site for updated information and locations where you may find Sierra Health Resources staff with the most current, up-to-date information about HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis.
