Transitional Housing Project
Sierra HOPE’s new Transitional Family Shelter provides housing, education and services for up to 5 families with children. Transitional Housing is a supportive and temporary accommodation designed to bridge the gap from homelessness to permanent housing by offering structure, supervision, support, life skills, education and training to those individuals or families who struggle to maintain permanent housing.
The 5 bedroom house was purchased in December 2019 with private donations and has been undergoing renovations to add 2 new bathrooms, improve accessibility, and make several other upgrades. Calaveras County, Pinnell’s Carpet One, Union Congregational Church of Angels Camp, and First Congregational Church of Murphys provided significant support for the renovation project.
Our residents have been able to stabilize their situations, and in several cases, moved on to their own apartments. The ongoing support they receive can be lifechanging. The Transitional House is overseen by a Housing Case Manager who is a full time staff member of Sierra HOPE, in addition to onsite staff.
