Volunteers make all the difference at Sierra HOPE
How do you run an important community resource with three full time staff members? At Sierra HOPE it is all about the volunteers. Our volunteers sit on the Board of Directors, making important decisions for the organization. Volunteers pick up food for the food pantry, stock the shelves, track clients in a data base, and help distribute food every week. A volunteer picks up bread donated by ARIA bakery once a week for distribution by the pantry. Volunteers plan and make all fundraisers happen. Volunteers work in the office, write the newsletter, have envelope stuffing parties for newsletter and fundraising mailings, and haul items to events, set up tables, take tables down and take out the trash when the event is over. What do volunteers get from donating their time and effort? Friendship, fun, a sense of making a difference, and the knowledge that without them, Sierra HOPE would struggle to meet its mission. If you would like to become a volunteer, whether on the Board of Directors, at the pantry on Wednesdays, working in the office, or participating in an event, call us at 209 736-6792 or use our contact form. You will make new friends and have fun making a difference! |
